Quantico Young Marines
The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
In July 1993, the United States Marine Corps officially designated the Young Marines program as "the focal organization for fulfilling its participation in the Department of Defense's drug demand reduction activities."
Young Marine units are community-based programs run by dedicated adult volunteers in over 300 communities across the United States and overseas. Young Marine units are similar in nature to community-based programs such as Boy/Girl Scout councils or Camp Fire chapters. Quantico Young Marines is one of the units supporting Young Marines in the region near Quantico, Virginia.
FUN!!!
Having fun while learning is an essential ingredient in the Quantico Young Marines unit. We perform community service endeavors, but we also do:
- Encampments - learn mapping and compass, build a lean-to, survival, first aid, etc.
- Visit historical sites and support Veterans events.
- Picnics with fun events
- Rappelling, obstacle course, night vision laboratory
- And more!!!
